The Township of Wellesley is responsible for the construction and maintenance of Township roads, bridges and sidewalks. Winter maintenance includes snow removal, salting and sanding. Summer maintenance includes gravelling, grading and paving.

Public Works Crew

The Township Public Works Department's prime function is to provide summer and winter maintenance on 211 kilometers of roads within the Township. 84 kilometers of paved roads and 127 kilometers of gravel roads. The Public Works Department is also responsible for the construction and re-construction of roads.

The Public Works Department works in cooperation with all other departments in the Township upon request. We also work through a shared road maintenance agreement with City of Waterloo, Perth East, Woolwich and Wilmot Townships.

The Township of Wellesley follows the Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways as set out by Ontario Regulation 239/02

The Township roads crew follow a general maintenance schedule. Note that weather conditions in any particular year can greatly affect the actual timing of these functions:
