The Administration works very closely with the Mayor and Members of Council to ensure effective governance of the Municipality. This ongoing partnership should result in a positive outcome for our citizens.

For citizens who have questions and need further information about their municipality, a letter or telephone call to individual Department Heads is encouraged. Of course, you may also contact any Member of Council.

The Executive Director Corporate/Clerk reports to the Mayor and Members of Council and is responsible to ensure that the policies and directions of Council are carried out.

The Township of Wellesley is governed by an elected council consisting of a Mayor and four Councillors currently serving a four year term. The actual governing of the township follows the rules and regulations set out by the Provincial Government in the Municipal Act. Township Council makes decisions affecting the community and the services provided by the Township of Wellesley. The Township of Wellesley offers a range of a municipal services including fire protection, recreational facilities, construction and maintenance of the municipal infrastructure.

  • General Administration of the Municipality
  • Preparation and Housing of the Township's Municipal By-laws
  • Registration of Births and Deaths
    any births or deaths which occur in the Township of Wellesley are registered with the Clerk's Department and are then forwarded to the Office of the Registrar General
  • Conduct the Municipal Elections every 4 years
  • Preparation of Council and Committee Agenda and Minutes

ELECTION OVERVIEW

The Clerk serves as returning officer under the Municipal Elections Act and is responsible for conducting municipal elections once every four years in accordance with the provisions of the Municipal Elections Act.  This involves preparation of voters' lists, receiving nominations of candidates running for office, preparation of voting cards, selection and staffing of polling stations for election day and tabulation and distribution of election results.

How to obtain a Commissioner of Oaths Signature?

The person(s) swearing the affidavit must appear before the Commissioner and will need to produce identification (preference being photo identification such as a Driver's License).  It is recommended that you contact the Township of Wellesley at (519) 699-4611 to arrange an appointment.

The Deputy Clerk is responsible for lottery licenses.

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission (AGCO) is responsible for administering the lottery licensing program in the Province of Ontario - municipalities and the AGCO are responsible for issuing lottery licences to eligible charitable and religious organizations.

The Order-In-Council provides municipalities with licensing authority for:

  • bingo events, including table board bingo, with prize boards of up to $5,500;
  • break open tickets for local organizations;
  • raffle lotteries for total prizes of $50,000 and under;
