| Building Department |
Permits are required to construct or demolish any building or structure, as well as, any additions to, or portion of, any building or structure. Permits are also required for swimming pools and decks. All construction must comply with the Township of Wellesley Zoning By-law requirements. No one is permitted to construct or demolish any building until a permit has been issued by the Township Building Department. A complete permit application requires a completed application form, detailed site plan, 2 copies of construction plans, completed Schedule 1, designer information (if required), approved lot grading plan (if required), and approved nutrient management strategy and/or plan (if required. Contact the Building Department with specific questions. "Building" means a structure occupying an area 10 square meters (108sq ft) or greater constisting of a wall, roof and floor or any combindation of the same including all plumbing works, fixtures and service systems. "Construct" means to do anything in the erection, installation, extension or material alteration or repair of a building. "Demolish" means to do anything in the removal of a building or any material part thereof or removal from one location to another. Development Charges are due and payable at the time of the issuance of the Building Permit unless an individual agreement has been entered into providing for payment prior ro the issuance of a building permit. Credit will be established for those units that existed a maximum of three (3) years prior to redevelopment of any site. Payment is made through the Administration Office of the Township of Wellesley, according to the rate in effect at the time that the building permit is issued. Cheques are to be made payable to the Township of wellesley. When you are planning any construction, please contact the Township Building Department.
