The Township Clerk serves as the Returning Officer under the Municipal Elections Act and is responsible for the co-ordination and management of the Municipal Election. Bill 212, The Good Government Act, made various amendments to the Municipal Elections Act, 1996. Many of these impact candidates, but several also effect the electorate. Information on Council Structure Information on nominations for other Regional Offices
Township of Wellesley Council structure consists of a Mayor as the Head of Council and Four Councillors representing one for each of the four Wards. The Mayor is also a Regional Councillor by virtue of Office. Nomination Period for the 2010 Municipal Election commences on January 4, 2010 and continues through to Nomination Day, September 10, 2010. The Nomination Form and Declaration of Qualifications must be completed in full and filed in person by the candidate or an agent of the candidate to the Clerk during normal business hours (8:30 am to 4:30 pm) Monday to Friday and on Nomination Day from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.. The nomination paper may not be faxed or emailed to the Clerk’s office. The last day for filing nominations is September 10, 2010 (Nomination Day) when nominations will be accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Township of Wellesley will be accepting nominations for the following offices:
Where the number of certified candidates is fewer than the number of offices to be filled, additional nominations may be filed between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2010. The nomination filing fee is $200.00 for the Mayor's position and $100.00 for all other positions. Candidates Package: Regional Chair - one (1) to be elected.
